Notes Leaving my home at Wakefield, Yorkshire, I sailed from Liverpool, England, on the S.S. "Vedic" on April 28th, 1921, finally arriving in Winnipeg. My first job in Canada was working for a farmer at Shellmouth, Manitoba. From there I went to Decker where I worked as a farm labourer, and then to Strathclair where I worked for Amos Switzer and Mrs. Grace McGregor. I bought the S.E. quarter of 22-17-22 from A. Baldrow and farmed on my own, specializing in Malting Barley and buying each new variety as it became available. I bought the Colin Roger property, moved to town and farmed from town for several years. In 1981 I moved to Carlton Lodge. (Our Story to 1984, Strathclair, MB, History Book)
