Notes JOHN M. MORTON (1 of 2) My father, John Morton and Christian Mackie were married in Winnipeg on January 15, 1919. They lived on the farm they called the Glenforsa Farm, 11-18-22. He died on May 11, 1919, at 29 years of age. I was born November 30, 1919 at Grandfather Morton's where mother and I lived with Grandfather Robert Morton, Uncle Charlie, Aunt Chrissie. After five years there mother and I moved to H.T. Morton's where mom worked. There I had my first playmates, Helen, Jack, Isobel, and Margaret. My memories really start from that time prior to that everything was hearsay. On December 17, 1925, mother married Fred M. Geekie. Thus I acquired many more relatives. However, Grandfather asked that my name not be changed, so I remained John Menzies Morton, brought up in a Geekie environment. I have two sisters, Helen born in 1927, and Eileen in 1929. Helen Mary married John C. Hogg, and Eileen Grace married Douglas Chisholm.

Notes (2 of 2) I spent some time in the army, when I came back I worked on W 1/2 1-18-22 and S 1/2 11-18-22 on a half share basis. Later I was given my father's farm (Glenforsa) 11-18-22. In 1940, H.T. Morton persuaded me to buy 80 acres of 12-18-22. I will never forget his generosity and help at $2500.00 it was a steal. In 1976 Dad (Geekie) gave us each a 1/4 section. I got NE 2-18-22, it was formerly J. Geekie's. Dad (Geekie) built a home in Strathclair where he became the youngest old man in town. He enjoyed sports, bowling, curling, and shuffleboard. Mother died on June 2, 1970. Dad lived alone until two years ago when some health problems made him move to Morley House at Shoal Lake. He was 98 years old when he passed away in 1983. On October 22, 1953, Jean Deloris Blackbird consented to marry me. We were married in Elphinstone Presbyterian Church. We have six children, Joann Kirkpatrick and her two daughters, Lara Lee and Shauna Ann, and Chrissie Mae Morton, Arlene Mavis Morton, Richard Alexander and his wife, Linda Lee (Webb) and their son Jonathan Richard, and John Charles Mortön, and Lisa Doris Morton. Jean and I still live on the same farm, the Glenforsa farm, 11-18-22. Our children are all on their own at present, all working in Alberta.
